Voice Studio

Ms. Hartt teaches private voice lessons at her home studio in Wayland. She teaches singing from a classical perspective that is strongly influenced by the bel canto technique. Her students learn how to sing in the healthiest, most efficient way possible, gaining a strong foundation for singing any type of music. Each student has the opportunity to participate in masterclasses and studio recitals throughout the year. Her students build confidence, develop stage presence, strengthen their music-reading skills, and explore a wide variety of musical genres.

Voice Studio FAQ's

When are lessons scheduled?

During the school year, lessons are scheduled for Thursdays or Saturdays; the summer schedule is more flexible. Length of lesson depends on age, ability, and student's needs. Most students come for a lesson every week. Click here to view current lesson schedule.

What makes a good voice student?

I teach high school students who plan to continue their vocal studies in college, and adults who have a strong desire to develop good vocal technique. A good student keeps a consistent practice schedule (20-60 minutes daily). Students are expected to be prompt and prepared. Bring your voice books, a small notebook, and a pencil to each lesson, as well as a portable mp3 recorder or iPod (with a microphone such as Griffin's iTalk or the Olympus digital voice recorder ) to record the lesson. Bring also: patience, passion, and a sense of humor.

How long does it take to learn to sing?

Learning to sing is a lifelong process that requires commitment, dedication, and lots of practice. Even professional singers still take regular voice lessons! It's a good idea for a new student to set goals to work toward, such as preparing for college auditions. I generally ask new students to commit to 6 months of lessons.

How much does it cost?

$60/hour, $30/half hour. Students pre-pay at the first lesson of each month. Students also purchase 1-3 vocal books, which range from $10-$30 each. You can now pay through PayPal with your credit card or bank card.
